I have several tools in the M12 line. This porta-band will not replace a full size band saw. It cuts max. 1 5/8" by 1 5/8". This is fine for small pipe, 7/8" and 1 5/8" strut, threaded rod, and cutting down fender washers or 3/4" rod used in light pole bases.
It also has a built in L.E.D. light that stays on for 15 to 20 seconds. the cutting guide also slides up for flush cuts and it has a blade tracking adjustment screw. Sometimes Milwaukee runs a discount program that has a mail-in form. I got my kit for $120 w/ everything.
I've used it for cutting strut and pipe. Now my sawzall sits in my truck when cutting pipe. I get about 10 or so cuts on 1 5/8" strut using the regular battery and many more w/ the XC battery. It is compatible w/ red lithium batteries and the standard lithium batteries. If you're working out of an boom lift or a scissor lift. this beats a sawzall for small pipe cutting.
Even at full price of $220. I'd still buy it. other battery bandsaws are good too, but Milwaukee has a 5 year warranty and makes a great product.
